Experience

UNC Charlotte

3 roles Since May 2026

  1. Aug 2026 – Present

    Teaching Assistant, ENGR 1300

William States Lee College of Engineering

    • I support 40 first-year students through ENGR 1300 and its semester-long team design project. I took the same course and competed in the same Expo a year ago.
    • In office hours I help teams get from concept to final pitch, and work through the technical and team problems that come up along the way.
  2. Aug 2026 – Present

    MAPS Coach

    Maximizing Academic and Professional Success

    • I facilitate 6 recurring coaching sessions for 72 first-year engineering students on planning the week, starting early, and asking for help on time.
    • I was a MAPS mentee my freshman year. I want students to feel like they belong in the college, because they do.
  3. May 2026 – Present

    Peer Advising Leader

    Emerging Leaders Program

    • I mentor a 70-member cohort through weekly sessions on public speaking, event planning and leadership styles.
    • I went through this program as a freshman. Now I help plan it and recruit the next cohort at New Student Orientation.

Chick-fil-A

Since Mar 2025

  1. Mar 2025 – Jan 2026, Mar 2026 – Present

    Back-of-House Team Member

    Charlotte, NC

    • I rotate across prep, fry and assembly stations, and work with the team to pace kitchen output to demand during peak rushes.
    • This is where my interest in process flow started.

Projects

Apr – May 2026 Engineering Visualization & Graphical Communication

The “Never Lost” keychain

1st place 78% of the class vote

The idea
Something people would actually want to carry every day. It gets lost keys back to their owner, because your name, major and phone number are engraved right on it, and a honeycomb pad and spinning gear give your hands something to do when you need to focus.
My role
I led media production and co-designed the assembly. I produced our 3-minute pitch video and played the lead in it.
Build
Modeled in Autodesk Fusion 360 and 3D printed as a working prototype.

Team

  • Ustym Y.Lead modeler · Prototype tech
  • John S.Lead presentation · Brand design
  • Rowdy E.Lead performance · Video actor
  • Mike Bloomfield Jr.Media production · Co-design
Four people stand around a wooden-box prototype labeled The Reverse Coffee Maker on an expo table

Oct – Dec 2025 ENGR 1300 Freshman Engineering Expo

The Reverse Coffee Maker

4th place out of 32 teams

The idea
A fully automated water-filtration exhibit K-12 visitors could run themselves, for the Engineering Grand Challenge to provide access to clean drinking water. You pack a filter cartridge with sand, activated carbon, cotton or a mystery material, and a turbidity sensor shows a red or green light.
My role
I led the time studies. I analyzed cycle times so we could program the Arduino sequence and keep the wait short when the Expo got busy.
Budget
$150, through late nights, failed code uploads and redesigns.

Team

  • Gianpaul Z.Lead Arduino coder
  • Devin K.Budget manager
  • Cristiano F.Lead designer
  • Mike Bloomfield Jr.Time studies lead
  • Prof. Junqiu WangFaculty advisor
